2022 Harley-Davidson® Nightster™ vs 2022 Harley-Davidson® Sportster® S

2022 Harley-Davidson® Nightster™ vs 2022 Harley-Davidson® Sportster® S

Harley-Davidson® shook up the motorcycle world when it announced that the brand would be adding not one but two sports bikes to its lineup. The Nightster™ and the Sportster® S set the foundation for the all-new Sport family and are both now available at Harley-Davidson® of Panama City Beach. Of course, these aren’t any old sports bikes but rather performance-oriented motorcycles designed through that unparalleled Harley-Davidson® lens. This article will compare the 2022 Harley-Davidson® Nightster™ vs 2022 Harley-Davidson® Sportster® S and discuss the pros of each, and then, if you would like additional information about them, you can call or contact our dealership online to schedule a test-ride!

An Introduction to Sport Bikes

Sports bikes are popular not only in America but throughout the world. The essence of a sports bike is that it is designed to get to your destination as fast as possible while still being street legal. Sports bikes are optimized for acceleration, top-end speed, cornering and braking. The goal here is to provide you an exhilarating riding experience but also one that challenges you and lets you challenge the bike.

Introducing Sport Bikes by Harley-Davidson®

While that describes sport bikes in a nutshell, there really is a great deal of diversity in that space, and there is even more now with the introduction of the 2022 Harley-Davidson® Nightster™ and the 2022 Harley-Davidson® Sportster® S. Both the Nightster™ and the Sportster® S are designed from different perspectives. The Sportster® S is designed as a modern sport bike with classic Harley-Davidson® inspiration whereas the Nightster™ straddles the line more between sport bike and traditional Sportster®.

Riding Characteristics

Both the Sportster® S and Nightster™ have a low profile, which is to be expected from either the perspective of a sports bike or Sportster®. In both cases, Harley-Davidson® includes advanced rider assists that help maintain rider control and in particular when riding conditions are less than ideal. The Nightster™ is designed to screen the wind to a degree and accommodate a windscreen if preferred. It has mid foot controls and puts the rider into a forward position. The Sportster® S, on the other hand, has forward foot controls and puts the rider into more of a stretched position.

Performance

The Sportster® S is the heavier bike by about 20 pounds: 502 compared to 481 pounds. It is also the more powerful bike as it has the Revolution Max 1250T engine, which makes 121 hp and 94 lb.-ft. The Nightster™ is no slouch in its own right. It has the Revolution Max 975T, which makes 90 hp and 70 lb.-ft.

Personalization

Both the 2022 Harley-Davidson® Nightster™ and 2022 Harley-Davidson® Sportster® S feature a blacked-out appearance with metal-look aspects. The default package for both models includes the Vivid Black color scheme. If you prefer a premium scheme, you have the choice between Gunship Gray and Redline Red with the Nightster™ and White Sand Pearl and Mineral Green Metallic with the Sportster® S. Harley-Davidson® also launched both bikes with excellent customization support through its catalog.

Is the Nightster™ Right for Me

The Nightster™ is the next step in the evolution of the Sportster®, which was introduced more than six decades ago. It has a liquid-cooled engine and delivers a quick and nimble riding experience with razor-sharp handling. If you like the idea of that and love the classic silhouette, this is the bike for you.

Is the Sportster® S Right for Me

Think of the Sportster® S as the first chapter in a new book. This is a motorcycle designed by Harley-Davidson® from the ground up as a modern sports bike. Its design pays homage to the tradition in many aspects, but make no mistake about it, this is not your father’s Sportster®.
